Spice Things Up in Your Computer Life

April 3rd, 2010

For those of you who spend a bit more time on the computer than the average Joe or Jane, things can get pretty mundane at times. Staring at the same computer screen all the time just adds to the “boredom” factor. Booting up your PC brings you the same desktop you always see. Launching your browser brings the same layout over and over again.

It’s nice to spice and change things up a bit, especially of your business is internet based and a bit repetitious. Any kind of change to atmosphere adds a little more excitement and a feeling of freshness to repetitive daily duties. Just a simple change can break up the “tunnel vision” that can occur and avoid getting burned out or bored.

So here are a few ways to bring a little something different to your day:

  1. Personas with Mozilla Firefox. You can create your own or choose from thousands of different designs submitted by others around the world. I created one with a photo I took while in Hawaii this past summer. Here’s a picture of it. If you like it, click on the picture below and use it or choose a different one!
  2. Change your Desktop background frequently. In fact, I use it as a goal board. I place pictures of my short and long term goals as well as daily, weekly, monthly and yearly written goals. It’s constantly changing and is a breath or fresh air and a constant reminder of what I want each and every time I boot my PC. I use a program from Macromedia called Fireworks to create my background creatives.
  3. Install different Themes for your specific operating system. These are easy to find, just type the words “IE themes” or “desktop themes” into your search bar. There are different themes for PC’s and Mac’s alike. You can also change the colors and styles of your windows. On a PC you simply right click on your desktop and you’ll have options to change themes or just the appearance. For those of you who are Mac users, sorry, I’m a PC guy still so I don’t know how you would go about it. Good luck!
  4. Listen to music. There are a ton of these places on the net but the one I enjoy the most is Pandora.com. It’s an online radio station that you can customize to your liking. I have a Metallica channel and hear a range of jams from them, Megadeth, AC/DC and a few of the bands I listen to. It’s a great counter to listening to music already on your PC and you don’t have to listen to the same songs over and over again. Unless you enjoy that!

So there you have it. Just a few ideas from an internet marketing addict. It’s amazing what a few simple changes can do for your motivation. Remember, enjoying what you do equals more $$$ in the bank. Stay motivated, stay excited and keep things fresh. Every time I look at my Persona, it brings back all the memories I had while in Hawaii. It’s that little extra dose of motivation and it helps….I promise!

Goodbye 2009 – Welcome 2010!

January 1st, 2010

I’d like to take time tonight, actually it’s 1:05 am here in beautiful Payson Arizona, to wish you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year. I assume you all are as excited as I am for all the success and prosperity coming your way this year and have already set a plan of action in place to make it happen!

Tonight couldn’t have been better. Knowing that a good portion of the world was out at a party or event, Amy and I spent the evening with those we care for most….our family. We invited Amy’s parents over for games and fun. Our three girls actually managed to stay awake through midnight…..and I’m thinking it might have been all the sugar we allowed them to scarf down all evening! Either that or the opportunity to blow a New Years horn at midnight….. just too much excitement for them to miss out on! Regardless, kicking off 2010 was perfect!

So what do we call it? Twenty ten or two thousand and ten. I’m definitely torn, but whatever it is, I am gearing up for one of the best years ever!

Life is truly good my friends. We are all very blessed….and I look forward to assisting you all as much as I possibly can in reaching your goals of success this year!

Happy New Year from David and Amy Allred at CreateFinancialWealth.com!

CreateFinancialWealth.com in 2009

December 29th, 2009

It’s amazing to me how fast time can fly by. At times I feel like the short fat kid at field day! Which, I was never that kid and I apologize ahead of time if you were! It’s been a great year for CreateFinancialWealth.com and I am excited to see what 2010 brings. I know for sure, it will bring more traffic, more people looking to start a home business or work from home, more personal development seekers and more revenue. I plan to add a few new features to the blog section of the site which will inspire more interaction from you, so get ready for it. And I know, you can hardly wait!

As much as I know that our past NEVER dictates our future outcome, our past does give us a mark to start from and outperform this coming year. A blog is a funny thing…..the more attention, work and value you put into it, the more traffic and revenue you generate from it. Imagine that!

So here are a few stats, in case you were curious:

  • Revenue generated through things such as Adsense, Affiliates and various methods, $49,111.94.
  • As of today, CFW’s Alexa rating is 259,350.
  • We have an average of 3,000 unique visitors per month and over 7,000 page views per month. All from Search Engine Traffic. I don’t use CPC methods for generating traffic.
  • Site Expense = $75 for hosting! How’s that for return on investment?
  • This site is hosted by none other than IPOWER.

Goals for 2010:

  • Triple my traffic
  • Triple my subscribers
  • Achieve an Alexa rating of less than 100,000
  • Create a CFW widget
  • Introduce additional Authors to the blog
  • Triple my income
  • Bring more value to you, my readers
  • Create a CFW Social Networking site

So as you can see, I have a lot planned for CreateFinancialWealth! It’s going to be a great year!! Any suggestion you have that you’d like to see right here on CFW, let me know!!

What Does Google Think of You?

November 30th, 2009

Google SearchNow this post has nothing to do with Personal Development or creating success in a home based business, but it sure gave me a good laugh. It’s always good to know what the search engines think of your site…..but I don’t think we really ever wonder what search engines think of you, personally.

Go to http://google.com. Type in “(YourName) is a”. Here’s a picture of what Google thinks of me…and you know what, don’t get offended. It’s just a computer giving you suggestions of what other people have searched for. Blame the people, not the Google machine!

How to Husk a Coconut

November 4th, 2009

I know that this is kind of an off the wall post, but honestly, how many of you have actually husked a coconut? I mean literally picked one up off the jungle floor and with some short of a stationary sharp object, husked a coconut? Now all of you who live in places where coconuts grow, you can’t answer these questions. That’s just cheating. That’s like asking me if I have ever blown up a cactus with a shotgun or “accidentally” hit a Jack Rabbit on the highway(I apologize in advance for my destructive nature at times…I’m a guy). This was my first one and I was pretty excited about it, obviously.

So the setting is on the Big Island of Hawaii this past summer. We were on the Hilo side of the Island and were there in Hawaii for about two weeks. Danny Hawman, a good friend of mine and partner in business, was the camera man. Enjoy the lifestyle, do things you have never done before, otherwise, what’s the point?

Javelinas at the Allreds

October 27th, 2009

So yesterday I took the morning off to hand out with my one year old daughter while Amy volunteered at my daughters school. She volunteers every Monday, and so instead of trying to struggle with working around my daughter, I just take the morning off and hang out. One of the perks of being a home business Entrepreneur….the ability to dictate my own schedule day by day.

Now this particular morning, my one year old daughter decided to sleep in pretty late. She slept until around 9 am. While she was drooling, we had a few Javelina drop by for a quick bite to eat. And I got it on tape for you. Check it out:
