Be Stuffed into a Train Like Sardines….Or Work From Home?

February 3rd, 2014

Stuffed into a train like sardinesI have had the blessing of being able to work from home for quite some time now, and I have to be honest with you, sometimes it’s not the easiest thing to do. For one, I love to do anything and everything else besides work. Plus, I have four kids below the age of thirteen, with one of those children being under two. He’s my “mini-me” and wants to hang out, so it gets tough trying to focus.

I actually wrote a blog post a while back giving tips on working from home with a toddler. Check it out and give me some feedback.

A Little Support Goes a Long Way

November 7th, 2013

home business supportThere are people out there that worry about the level of support they’ll receive when they get started in a business opportunity such as Empower Network.

Heck, you might even be one of those people.

Maybe you’ve been part of an opportunity in the past that didn’t really work out, and you blame it on the support you didn’t receive.

Well, first off, get that out of your head. If you fail, it’s nobody’s fault but your own….

….BUT, a little support sure goes a long way.

What Does Dave Do? Work from Home as a Webmaster.

September 17th, 2013

WebmasterHere it is! The second addition to my video series, “What does Dave do?” In this video, I cover one of the many ways I generate income online as a work from home Dad.

Is this method one of my favorite ones? Probably not. But it brings in the bacon, and, in the process, allows me to help other people. There’s nothing worse than needing to update your website, and not knowing a thing about updating websites.

I remember when I first attempted editing my website. It was an extremely frustrating experience, but I wanted to learn. The person who designed my site wasn’t willing to make any more edits to the site for me, so I had no choice.

What Exactly Does Dave Do? The Introduction

September 11th, 2013

Over the course of the last decade, as a work from home Dad, people I meet naturally become curious about what I do for a living. From an outsiders point of view, all they see, or I should say, don’t see, is me leaving the house during normal work hours. I don’t hop in my car and take the normal drive into town for the old J.O.B.

In fact, because some people, especially those in my family, don’t really understand what I do, I’m frequently being told to “Go get a job!”

How rude, right?

Arizona Tornadoes or Dust Devils

May 10th, 2013

Arizona Tornadoes or Dust DevilsMuch like the mid-western states, here in Arizona, we also have tornadoes…..but just in a much, much smaller size. We like to call them dust devils. Others may have their own names for them, such as whirlwinds or wind funnels. Just like tornadoes, dust devils are a weather phenomenon of a vertically column of rotating air. But unlike tornadoes, dust devils aren’t backed by a larger force such as a mesocyclone from a thunderstorm.

We took our girls out of school for a lunch date today and ran into about a half dozen of these things making their way through our small community here. One of them, which I was not able to catch on video, had roughly a 4 ft by 4 ft sized tumble weed caught in it and was getting tossed around in a thirty foot circle.

Arizona Tornadoes or Dust Devils

Dust devils are usually harmless, but imagine getting smacked across the face with a tumble weed! For those of you who have never felt a dried up tumble weed, let me explain it to you….ouch! Thousands of stickers!

Sword Fighting with Cattails – Fun Activities for Kids

January 22nd, 2013

sword fighting with cattailsI promise you this, if you can find a way to take your kids sword fighting with cattails, your kids will love you for it! I don’t know a single kid that doesn’t love making a mess and whacking things with a stick, so add this one to your list of fun outdoor activities to do with kids.

As you probably already know, yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. day, and because of it, my kids were given the day off from school. So, as a work from home Dad, one of the most difficult things for me to do is to work while my kids are off from school. And you might think that it’s because they’re running around the house like a bunch of monkeys while I’m trying to record a YouTube video or write up a blog post, and that might be part of the reason. But the main reason is that I want to get out and do something fun with them while they have a free day.

So, instead of working, I decided to take the day off!
