We as a society have come from being excited about the wheel back in the stone ages and getting mail delivered by pony to having millions of listings on any given subject at the touch of our finger tips. 97% of the worlds population are what I consider modern day slaves. They are doing the drill as we would say in the military. I am part of a company that teaches principles based on obtaining true happiness. I associate with a group of entrepreneurs who are on the path of total freedom and personal enlightenment. Two years ago I was unfulfilled, basically broke, living paycheck to paycheck, living in a two bedroom apartment, wishing I had a way out of it all. The only books I had read up to that point were the scriptures, the Hardy Boy’s series, and some children’s story time books. Through this business I have discovered that knowledge is energy as well as thought. The more thought and energy we put into what we want, it will materialize and present itself. I now own a fairly large library of books and find that I am more fulfilled than ever. This business has changed the way I think, thus changing the results I have in life. I absolutely believe that there is a lot to be said about will-power and the willingness to do whatever it takes to be successful. Will-power can turn someone into a ball of fire that can overcome and penetrate any obstacle that lies in it’s path. It is fueled by your “Why.” I”ve already established that having a “why” behind your dreams and ambitions is like the fuel in your tank. It is the reason! If your why is strong enough, then what are you willing to do for success. What are you willing to sacrifice for it?

Let’s put it this way. When it comes to purchasing a home, the average mortgage is a 30 year loan. Now, for me that is obsurd. It would absolutely kill me if I had to pay on something for that amount of time. I would be old and grey by then and wouldn’t be able to enjoy it . I built my first home with my own two hands with the help of family. An opportunity came up to use the equity in order to build another home to sell, thus getting closer to my goal of financial freedom. The risk: I could lose the home I worked so hard to build. To me, it was worth the risk of losing the home to have it paid off in less than 3-5 years. I mean, it is just a house. If I was to lose it, I would just build another and do it all over again. I was willing to lose my home in order to achieve my goal of financial freedom.

I have several people that are very close to me that will end up spending the rest of their lives in debt and struggling due to their unwillingness to take a risk for success. They would rather soccumb to fear, and doubt in their ablilties to make things happen. Things are just things. You must be willing to sacrifice it all. If you aren’t, then your “why” isn’t strong enough. You don’t want it bad enough.

You must also be willing to sacrifice the belief system that has not produced your desired results in life. Finding and letting go of those beliefs can and may be very difficult. It means changing your daily routine, getting out of your comfort zone, thinking outside of the box, doing what it takes in your personal life to obtain results, giving up relationships that may hinder you and destroy your morale.

There are hundreds of different businesses you can consider starting, and each has its own set of pros and cons. The biggest roadblock to starting or buying a business is that they require a considerable up-front cash investment. In addition to the large investment, the time commitment you must make when starting a business can ultimately turn out to be far greater than what you have experienced in any job, and the return is not necessarily worth the extra time or the financial risk.

Let’s take a look at some of your options for starting your own business:

Option 1- Buying a Franchise: You could buy a franchise such as McDonalds, Burger King, Wendy’s, Subway, or Dominos Pizza, but you may find they have many beginning obstacles. You will need to make a large upfront cash investment (average start-up cost between supplies, location, and so forth – can fall anywhere between $500,000 to $1 million), and in the end, what you are really buying yourself is 80-hour-a-week job. You are going to be stuck in one location all the time, and you will have to be there everyday to oversee the operation. You are not going to increase your time freedom.  With a franchise, you are also going to be required to pay royalty fees for the life of your business. These fees are in addition to all of your operating expenses, and in many cases, they can prevent you from being profitable.

Option 2- Traditional Business: In almost every case, if you buy yourself a traditional business, you are doing nothing more than buying yourself a job… only with more headaches. You assume all responsibility, and you must be there all the time to make sure that everything is running properly. There are numerous costs associated with operating a traditional business including inventory, rent, and of course, personnel. Administrative tasks take up a tremendous amount of time. The success of your business can be highly dependent on the state of economy, and you are also bound to one location. Long hours trapped in one location do not give you the freedom to spend more time with your family and friends or be able to take vacations, travel, and live a life of comfort and privilege. Costs are also another obstacle to cross. There are so many limitations.  I did this myself, and have first hand experience on this type of opportunity.

Option 3- MLM: Multi-level marketing is a viable option for many with few start-up obstacles, but the chances are very slim of you actually achieving your goals of changing your financial situation and having time freedom to do the things that you want to do. If you are one of the small percentages of people who actually do make money from MLM, you will still find that the timeframe to achieve results could be 2-4 years or more. In addition, MLM’s carry poor reputations, which make it even harder to succeed.  Stocking inventory, bugging friends and family, meeting quotas, gaining small commissions, worrying about breakouts (individuals who show more success than you, taking your profits), and so many other negatives come with this type of territory.  NO THANKS!
