For one, I love to do anything and everything else besides work. Plus, I have four kids below the age of thirteen, with one of those children being under two. He’s my “mini-me” and wants to hang out, so it gets tough trying to focus.

I actually wrote a blog post a while back giving tips on working from home with a toddler. Check it out and give me some feedback.

HOWEVER, even with all my petty struggles, nothing compares to being your own boss, choosing your own schedule and working from the comfort of home. There’s no commute. Most of the time, I’m working in my pajamas or work out clothes. No boss. No supervisor (My wife doesn’t count).

I wouldn’t trade it for the world, and whenever I see videos like this one, makes me feel even more blessed. This video was taken in Japan in the year 2006. These poor people are being stuffed, literally stuffed into a train like sardines.

Just amazing. Check out the video and then share your gratitude for being able to work from home by leaving a comment.

The second addition to my video series, “What does Dave do?” In this video, I cover one of the many ways I generate income online as a work from home Dad.

Is this method one of my favorite ones? Probably not. But it brings in the bacon, and, in the process, allows me to help other people. There’s nothing worse than needing to update your website, and not knowing a thing about updating websites.

I remember when I first attempted editing my website. It was an extremely frustrating experience, but I wanted to learn. The person who designed my site wasn’t willing to make any more edits to the site for me, so I had no choice.

Finding a dependable webmaster is a rare thing in this world. So there’s a great deal of need there. And that’s the entire motto of entrepreneurs around the world, right? Find a need. Fill a need. That’s where true profit lies!

Once again, you can find the video series by clicking on the link above. You’ll also find links to certain resources I mentioned in the video.

Enjoy!

Non-Network Marketing Home Business Work From Home Ideas https://www.createfinancialwealth.com/non-network-marketing-home-business-work-from-home-ideas/ Tue, 12 Mar 2013 23:44:35 +0000 http://www.createfinancialwealth.com/?p=5583 work from homeIn all my vast experience as an entrepreneur, I definitely have not “done it all.” There are still a plethora of ideas stored inside a secret folder in my head which, one day, I’ll explore. But as of right now, a common phrase keeps coming to mind, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” Meaning, the home business I’m in is working, and working well….why change it.

And for that reason, I haven’t branched out a whole lot to other ventures. I try not to be too A.D.D. when it comes to business, because what I’ve noticed, is the more I try to do, the less I really get accomplished. So, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

However, for those of you who still want to work from home, yet have no desire to build a team, or anything similar, there are other ways, through the internet, to make a buck or two.

Non-Network Marketing Home Business Work From Home Ideas

  1. E* Trading – Number one on my list is buying and selling stocks. My Dad did a little of this, completely part time, while he worked his full time job. He actually made some decent money while doing it. But since he wasn’t constantly watching it, it wasn’t as profitable as it could have been if it were his full time gig. But through sites like ANZ Online Trading, trading stocks is a few fees and a click of the button away.
  2. Affiliate Marketing – There are a lot of people that have made a lot of money in affiliate marketing. For those of you who don’t know what this is, in a nutshell, it’s selling other people’s products. They have all the advertising information for you, just plug in and share their links. When someone purchases a product through your link, you get paid a commission! No team building there.
  3. Blogging - For those of you who love to write, great incomes have been created through blogging. You can offer affiliate links, opportunities and products on your blog. You can also offer advertising space to others looking to promote their products or services. Through your blogs content, you’ll build up and audience and a following. You can also get paid through programs such as Adsense, which places ads on your blog and pays you when someone clicks on that ad.
  4. eCommerce – If you have a product you’d like to bring to the market, set up your own online store. If you don’t, you can always purchase products in bulk and sell them on your store or on other eCommerce sites such as Ebay. A truly unique product can be very profitable.

Currently, I am making money through three of the ideas listed above, in addition to my current home business. They all work very well. The secret to success in anything is consistency and passion. If you can stick with it and learn from your mistakes, you can create a full time income which will allow you to work from home.

Tips for working from home with a toddler! https://www.createfinancialwealth.com/tips-for-working-from-home-with-a-toddler/ Fri, 15 Feb 2013 21:35:02 +0000 http://www.createfinancialwealth.com/?p=5430 toddler in a cardboard boxThere’s nothing better than working from home. You can set your own work schedule and pretty much do whatever you please, as long as it doesn’t effect your productivity. You don’t have to worry about cubicles, bosses, supervisors, annoying co-workers or anything else that comes with a regular job.

If you’re working a home based business, you’ve got your computer on your lap or desk, your feet are kicked up on an ottoman, your cell phone is right next to you and your income potential is unlimited.

Everything is as it should be. Life as a work from home entrepreneur couldn’t be better!

And then, from out of no where, comes your toddler. He spots you from the other side of the room. You try not to make eye contact but you just can’t help yourself….he’s so stinkin’ cute!

He starts heading my direction, slightly whining yet excited to get to me. I know that the moment I show him attention, he’s gonna want to play or be picked up. And when that happens, say goodbye to any train of thought or motivation I just had, because it’s a thing of the past.

Uh, oh. He has reached my chair, and now he’s screaming so I pick him up. What feels like minutes is really only a few seconds, and the entire time I’m thinking, “Just use your words son! Stop screaming!”

I pick him up to console him for a while, and as I do, he lunges for my computer in an attempt to smash the keys. He wants to do what Dad does! Yet, his nick name is Bam Bam. Not sure why.  But my keyboard knows why!

Mom is in the back, doing what Mom’s do all day, and here I am, wondering how the heck I accomplish anything during the day, because this little scene happens over and over again.

I try to set him down near some toys but he’s not ready to play and doesn’t want to be on the floor. He wants Dad to carry him around to every photo in the entire house.
I try giving him food, but he just squeals some more.

Work from home with a toddlerThen finally, Mom comes to the rescue, takes him from my arms and sets him by his toys…..and guess what, he’s happy again!
She then says, “Why didn’t you just set him down by his toys?”

What the heck! I just tried that!
Then, she goes back to doing what she does all day.

And, the game starts again. Avoid eye contact. Avoid eye contact.

Does any of this sound familiar to you stay at home Mom’s and Dad’s?
If so, I may have a few ideas that might help you.

Tips for Working from Home with a Toddler!

Now, my little boy isn’t, in any way, a terror child. He’s probably still considered a baby, and not a toddler. He’s as cute as they come, but loves to spend time with his Dad. Lucky Me!  And if I could get paid for spending time with my son, then I would do that for a living, and not work. And even though I don’t have to put in a ton of hours in my business, I still have to put in a few uninterrupted hours to stay productive.

So here are a few tips for working from home with a toddler that might help you stay productive without feeling bad about neglecting your child. Some of these ideas are common sense, others might be something new to you.

  1. Avoid working in the same room as your toddler. I think this one is common sense, but if you’re the only parent at home, this one might not work so well. If you must be in the same room, or if your toddler is clingy, sometimes it helps to stay just out of their line of sight.
  2. Avoid eye contact. This one is a tough one, especially if you think your own kids are cute, which you should. If you think your own child is ugly, something is wrong with you… just sayin’. But this one is true. The moments you make eye contact with your child, they’ll start heading your direction.
  3. Get the right toys. In my vast experience as a parent, (I’m a dad of four), a child’s attention span is almost zero. So the more elaborate, yet simple, a toy is, the more it will occupy your child. The toys you see in the doctors offices, you know the ones which have all the beads that slide up and down on little bars, those are a great example. My son could spend hours on those things and still be just as interested in it the next go around.
  4. Get them glued to TV. That sounds bad, I know. But what I mean is, get them glued to learning shows. One of our kids used to watch “Baby Einstein” for some time. She loved them and was learning at the same time. She has always been very articulate because of it.
  5. Get a cardboard box. If nothing else seems to work, when all else fails, just get a cardboard box. Christmas experiences have taught me this. Sometimes, you can spend a fortune on the newest technology or toy for your kids, and the thing they play with the most is the cardboard box it came in. There’s something about climbing in and out of a box that every kids loves.
  6. Retreat to an office space. If you’re not the only parent at home, an office space can be your paradise island. However, if you don’t have one, find another room to work in. Keep in mind, your environment can effect your attitude towards work. So don’t pick some dark bedroom to work in. Choose a place that’s inspiring and energetic. Consider adding a designated office space, with a door, to work in and make your own. Luckily I have a very involved wife who occupies and teaches our children most of the time, so I can retreat when needed.

In closing, the entire reason I started a home based business was so I could be with my kids more often, just not all the time. I still have to get some work done during the day, and without some strategy, my work day disappears very quickly. I’ve come to realize that an few hours of undisturbed, laser focused work is always more productive than a full day of unfocused work.

I hope these tips have helped and would love to learn from you as well. Is there something you use during your day to create some space between you and your children during work hours?

Hurricane Sandy – Some Positive Financial Aftermath https://www.createfinancialwealth.com/hurricane-sandy-some-positive-financial-aftermath/ Tue, 30 Oct 2012 20:41:13 +0000 http://www.createfinancialwealth.com/?p=4825 Hurricane Sandy Positive AftermathNormally I’m a weather nut, meaning, I love to be caught in a bad down pour or crazy snow storm. Well, I shouldn’t use the word “caught,” I guess. I love to go out in them, as long as I know I can make it home safe and sound. Even if that means having to ram my SUV into a bank of snow just to get into my driveway! I know, give a man four wheel drive and he thinks he can do anything, right?

With that said, getting caught in a hurricane, such as hurricane Sandy, is another story.

I’ve been constantly searching for updates on Facebook and other avenues to see how everyone I know is doing during this storm. Some of them are with power, some without. Some say their homes are being hit by falling trees, their power is going out and the floods are coming. Sounds like a load of fun. Sure, storms are neat and all, but when your life or your habitat is being threatened, fun goes out the window!

Hurricane Sandy – Some Positive Aftermath

Although many are effected and are still being effected by hurricane Sandy, there has been some extremely positive news coming from the East coast, even with hurricane Sandy overhead. While homes were being flooded and common areas destroyed, it has to bring some peace of mind knowing that regardless of what happens, you’re business is still making money.

Here’s an email I recently received from a friend and colleague of mine:

Just a quick note while we still have power 😉
Shannon, Trinity and I are waiting out hurricane Sandy here in Delaware….
I’m looking forward to our move to Utah in January more than ever 😉
This morning we sat on the couch watching Toy Story 3 with Trinity and sale after sale came in…
$725.00 in total so far and it’s not even lunch time yet.
I wish you could see my smile of gratitude and joy.
You deserve this…
The peace of mind that comes from knowing your business is working ’round the clock without you.
So you can relax, spend time with your loved ones, doing what you want (or need to do).
This morning, I needed to relax with my family and enjoy a good Disney movie and the money flowed in without any attention on my part.
Great way to spend a Monday morning, don’t you think?

John, I can see the smile on your face buddy, because I have been wearing that same smile!

How many people have experienced a slight drop in income because they couldn’t open up their store or get to work? I guess what I’m saying is that it’s nice to know that there’s always money in the bank. By taking a little bit of action and accepting a little more change in your circumstances, things could be really, really different financially.

I completely agree with John, you DO deserve this. Click Here to learn more.
