In my experience, TIME is the most important ingredient.

Depending on the type of business you’re involved in, it’s going to require a lot of your time, especially if it’s a new business. Many people make the mistake, specifically in the Network Marketing industry, of thinking they can get something for nothing. Which is why more people fail in business than those who succeed. Getting started is just the first step. You’ll never reach the city of success unless you keep walking.

As a family man, the biggest factor of a happy family unit is spending time together. Not just with your children, but with your spouse. Conversation time, dating, recreation and romance. Sometimes it’s difficult to pull away from your entrepreneurial activities to simply hangout with your family. Sometimes the bike ride with the kids doesn’t seem as important as making the next sale for your business, but when you start making those kind of poor decisions your family starts to fail. The bike ride with your kids is ALWAYS most important. These are moments you’ll NEVER get back. The business may still be there, but your children won’t ever be that age, at that moment ever again.

It’s easy to fill your day with all sorts of activities that make you feel like you’re busy. There’s a difference between staying busy and being productive. Checking your email a hundred times during the day is keeping busy but not so productive. Sitting on the couch while your kids play on the living room floor doesn’t account for quality family time. They deserve interaction from you. Keep busy doing the things that matter, building activities.

Proper funding is essential to success.

Everyone should realize that money does not bring happiness…..but is sure does help! Without a stable financial situation, it’s difficult to focus on having fun with your business or your family. When your world is upside down financially, everything seems to be a wreck. If your business is making a good income, you can use that cash flow to reinvest and build your enterprise. The same for your family, a stable income allows you to do more and experience more together.

Enjoy it. Have fun.

The most successful business idea for anyone, is the one they enjoy doing the most. That’s where the passion falls into place. If you love what you do, it doesn’t seem like work when you’re doing it. More people will be attracted to you and your businesses if you look like you’re happy….and actually are happy.

In your family, laughter and smiles are the glue that strengthens those family relationships. Have fun with your kids, instead of rolling your eyes when they ask you to jump on the trampoline with them. If you’re not having fun, chances are, you’re just getting old and fat. Seriously!

Goals are Essential.

In any organization, personal or professional, as a leader, your goals should be to help others achieve their goals. Set goals with those you have stewardship over and provide a way for them to achieve their goals. As they’re progressing and getting better at what they’re striving for, they’ll feel productive and accomplished. Individual wins bring an over all win to the team.

Sacrifice and Unselfishness.

Nothing truly great and of virtue can ever come about without some level of sacrifice. So if it means skipping golf one weekend to take your spouse out of town, just the two of you, or putting your hobbies on hold to help your kids with theirs, it will be well worth the sacrifice. As a business owner, often times great personal sacrifice for the growth of the company is needed. Sacrifice shows passion and passion is what makes things great.

In conclusion, I feel I could go on and on with all the different similarities between being a great family man and at the same time, applying those principles into your business. Really what it comes down to is being a leader and caring about those you are surrounded with. It takes a great deal of effort and passion to be successful.

Now in past posts here at CreateFinancialWealth I have really bagged on having a job as if it was the worst punishment anyone could have in this life….and I have to apologize for that. A job has its purpose, and there are some benefits to having one, versus being self employed. It’s a lifestyle choice. Without employees there would be no employers. It’s the circle of commerce and industry. There must be both and at times you might find yourself being one or the other, wishing you were the other, struggling day in and day out to find an opportunity to become such.

Yet, when you get home from work, it’s so easy to eat dinner and just sit down on that couch for a few hours as you plug away on the internet or watch TV. Between spending time with your wife and kids and visiting with friends and family, it’s extremely difficult to find the time your entrepreneurial ideas deserve. So you find yourself attempting to stay up late at night trying to figure things out to get things moving, but you tire yourself so quickly and nearly go into a coma the rest of the week when you attempt to stay up a few more hours.

At this point, the job starts to take priority in your life. It’s much easier just to wake up, go to work, come home and not have to worry about anything until the next day when you start that drill all over again. Life becomes very predictable….with a bi-weekly paycheck and your schedule mapped out, you get on a routine. This routine is so habitual that it becomes nearly impossible to fit anything else around it. You are now 12 inches deep in the mud and are spinning your wheels every time you attempt to get out of the rut you’re in.

This is what I mean by the Employee Rut. Not that it’s a bad thing. Some do prefer and enjoy being in this rut….but it rips the spirit out of others. At times in your life, you may find yourself in this rut, not because you want to be there, but because your past choices have landed you there. Don’t become content with your lot! Get out as soon as you have the opportunity to, or the entrepreneurial spirit within will begin to diminish. Plan to succeed. Act on those ideas you have or someone else will, I promise you that. How many times have your ideas been so called, “Stolen,” by someone who acted instead of speculated about “Good ideas for a business.”

The world is full of people who can fill the ruts on the road to success…..but lacking those who have the fortitude and the ambition to make their way around, through, in and out of these ruts until they reach their destination. If there is a single ounce of entrepreneur in you, join the minority and live a life fulfilling and building your dreams! If you don’t, enjoy what you are doing now…because you’ll probably be doing it for the rest of your life.

It’s actually pretty funny to see the look I get when I tell someone of an idea I am having. They look at me like I’m crazy and proceed to tell me that it won’t happen.You know, because they are an expert. I think the reasoning behind it is the fact that they just don’t understand why I can’t just be normal. Why can’t I just get a job like everyone else they know. I am so weird to them. To them, it takes too much energy to do what I do.

After the first few times of being lectured about how things can’t be done, I started to make a game out of telling people about my ideas, just to see what kind of a reaction I could get. It’s actually pretty fun. You should try it…often…and where possible, capture it on video. I’d like to watch it because chances are, you’ll get the same reaction I always do. Only a few people in my life actually get excited for me when I share my vision for my future.

I remember specifically, the other day I told someone about my future goals as an entrepreneur…dead silence. Not even an acknowledgment! And lately, whenever that happens, I know I am on the right course. It just motivates me and should do the same for you, knowing that you are definitely “outside the box” they are currently living in.

Now I don’t know about you, but it seems like when I am the most comfortable, the less control I have of my life. As entrepreneurs, we do the things that most people won’t, so that later, we can live a life that most people can’t.

I’m excited to be on this journey with all of you! Entrepreneur for life baby!

The excitement has been building up for this event since our last event on the Big Island of Hawaii. It is mind boggling as to the effect that what we spoke about is going to have on the overall success of each individual in this opportunity.

What did you put in there? Are you disgusted by people? Are you amazed, set back, motivated, threatened, deranged? Depending on your answer, this is a great way to determine whether you are being at cause or being the cause.

Now, let’s rephrase that sentence a bit: I am _________ by those I associate with everyday. I am _________ by my family members.

What did you put in those blanks? Whether good or not, listen to the words your mind places there. Sure the word may change from time to time depending on how you allow your circumstances to effect your mindset, but ultimately, you choose the word to fill in the blank.

I once heard a phrase that went something like: If you would like to see more kindness in the world, become kind. If you would like to see more success in the world, become wildly successful. Become exactly that which you would like to see in the world. Only then will the world, in your mind, become what you would like it to become!

For me, I am “inspired” by the people in this world. I am “inspired” and “motivated” by those I associate with everyday. I am “empowered” by my family members!

Have you ever heard of TOMS Shoes? Here is an example of someone that inspires me in this world. This guy decided that he was going to start a company that made shoes and for every pair of shoes that someone buys, a pair is also given to a child in need somewhere around the world. TOMS Shoes is an example of someone deciding to be “At Cause” instead of “the cause.” He is making a difference in the world with his idea.

Do you think that it was easy for Blake Mycoskie to start this company? Do you think everyone thought it was a great idea, to start a company that gave away shoes? If you have read any of my articles or blog posts, you will know the answer. He was laughed at! People thought he was crazy and foolish. There were nay-sayers. There were people who didn’t want him to succeed because they wanted him to stay just like them, “the cause.”
