The Walk on

June 19th, 2009

Basketball NetDuring college did you ever think about being a walk-on in your favorite sport? Now, of course I’m speaking about the ones that didn’t have that full ride scholarship and a reserved spot on the team. However, this pertains to everyone, scholarship or not. So how about it? Did you? Did you actually try out for the team or did you just think about doing it? If you did try out, did you make the team? Did you give it your best?

This is about making things happen. It’s about creating a spot for yourself. It’s about wanting it bad enough that you’ll do just about anything to get it.

If you think about a walk-on, what comes to mind? Determination? Persistence? Vision? I can tell you this much, a walk-on is someone that makes the team out of pure will power. It is that person that knows they can hang with the big dogs, the high recruits, that already have a place on the team. This is a person with drive, with ambition and with a tremendous amount of self belief. There is no spot on the team for the walk-on. He has to create his spot on the team, work hard for it and claim it as his own. He has to earn the right to play with the big dogs and a lot of the time, is one of the better players on the team. Most if the time, the coach already has a good idea of who is going to fill the open spot on the team. So if that’s not you, you’ve got to want it more!

I’d like to give credit to Wendy Stevens for providing the idea for this post. True story, Wendy was actually a walk-on. She had a conversation with the coach one day about what she could do to make the team. The coach told her, “Play left handed!” So she did everything with her left hand. When opening the door, she would use her left hand. She brushed her teeth left handed. If you’ve never tried that, do it. It isn’t as easy as it may seem. Wendy was right handed, but she made the team. She used muscles that had never been used in that way before. She had to train these muscles to work just as good as her right hand muscles in order to get the spot on the team.

This is exactly the same thing that a new entrepreneur or new network marketer goes through. They get started in a business opportunity to create that spot on the team, to reach their goal of being a big time player. Once started in a business you quickly find out that you have never done some of the things you are now required to do. You must think differently, work differently and operate in a completely different way than before. So you work at it and work at it until it becomes natural. You are exercising your entrepreneurial muscles and the more you do, the easier the game becomes. The easier the game becomes, the better your chances are in winning that spot.

If you’re having trouble finding the way to get ahead, just keep being consistent. Consistency = exercising those muscles. By doing things that feel different than anything else you have ever done before, you will start adding new skills into your game. Once these skills are streamlined to perfection, you will gain that winners edge and claim your spot on the team as the walk-on who wanted it most!

Sizzling Summer Sales Contest

May 26th, 2009

Starting on the 15th of May, this business opportunity is holding a summer sales contest ending September of this year. The Summer months are going to be on fire! The sales are going to be through the roof and as a direct result, so is income!

So here’s how it works, you of course must be part of this opportunity. For more information on how to do that, fill out any of the contact forms on the website and request an interview. I will contact you for a brief conversation. Once an associate, there are two different ways to win. Prizes are awarded to the top seven producers in sales and also the top seven producers in income. Here are the prizes:

bmw1

Top 7 Income Earner Grand Prize: BMW Z4 Roadster

sony_bravia-xbp

Top 7 Beyond Freedom Producer Grand Prize: Sony Bravia XBR 52″ LCD TV

Those who place in positions 2 – 7 receive the same prize in each category. Here they are:

macbook-pro

MacBook Pro
mac

MacBook Air

canon-vixia-hf-s10

Canon Vixia HF S10 Digital Camcorder
canon_sd990is

Canon SD990 IS Digital Camera
ipod_touch

Apple 32GB iPod Touch
photo_frame

Sony 9″ Digital Photo Frame DPF V900

So we have some pretty cool prizes lined out for the top producers in each category. The prizes will be given out at a conference being held in Puerto Rico in the month of October and you must be present in Puerto Rico to receive an award.

Now I know the prizes seem enticing enough right? Well, imagine the financial reward gained from winning one of these prizes. What is the income of the grand prize winners going to look like when it’s all said and done? Now I am just guessing here, but I imagine the top income earner would be somewhere in the $200k-$300k range. Winning the BMW is just a perk when you are pulling in that kind of cash.

Now let me tell you this, a person who isn’t even involved in this contest has just as much potential to win as anybody, including myself, who has been in this business for years. It’s an equal playing field. So what do you say? Want in?

Associate of the Month

May 15th, 2009

Parking spotJust a little while ago my wife and I were in Flagstaff Arizona and happened to be in the Kohls parking lot waiting on a buddy of mine to pick me up. We had planned a trip to LA for a training seminar at the Hubbard College of Administration and were going to travel there together. While waiting there in the parking lot, I couldn’t help but notice an empty parking spot right up front. I thought to myself, how could that spot still be open? There were people coming in and out of the parking lot and it should have been taken by now.

So I strolled over there and noticed a sign posted there at the head of the parking spot. As I got closer, I noticed that the sign read, “Reserved for Associate of the Month.” I stood there in awe for a moment just thinking about the whole thing. I thought to myself how badly I would not want to have that parking spot and I will tell you why. I know that the associate of the month probably only makes around $25,000 to $35,000 a year, tops. That income may be great for a college student or someone who is looking for a job, but not me. I also know the amount of time that associate has put into that job to reach that status and also know that there had to be a little kissing up to get there. They probably get a plaque or a framed picture on the wall in some hallway or break room as well. There is no monetary reward, maybe a promotion in the future is all. The perks involve a first class parking spot and some sought after recognition.

Associate of the MonthAll I have to say is WOW! Congratulations to all of you who have ever received an “Associate of the Month” award. You know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of the movie, “Employee of the Month,” with Dane Cook and Jessica Simpson. Funny movie. You should watch it if you haven’t! It made me appreciate where I am in my life even more.

Now, in my business opportunity we also have an associate of the month. Here you also get a lot of the same perks as you do at a retail store. You get your picture put online, you get a video of you and your success to put on your website, your name is announced on a company wide call and you are given the recognition for your success that you deserve. The differences are in the income. The difference is over 6-figures! At Kohl’s an associate of the month may clear $30,000, with this business opportunity one will probably clear $250,000. And this is the crazy thing, they do it in about 20 hours of work per week. That’s probably less than half of the time an employee puts in whether associate of the month or not! It’s amazing what can happen to your income by simply thinking at a bigger level. The bigger level is Entrepreneurship.

Big difference right!? So as much as I love the front parking spot, I think I will stay right where I’m at. What do you think?

Is This a Get Rich Quick Scheme?

May 4th, 2009

get-rich-quickFrom time to time I will get the question, “Is this a get rich quick scheme?” I think it is hilarious when I do because most people probably can’t even define what a “Get rich quick scheme” really is. I assume it is something that promises you that you’ll get rich with little or no risk or effort. I would think this would be something a little more like gambling or pyramids, something you can just throw a little bit of cash at in hopes to get a ton back.

Let’s analyze the phrase, “Get rich quick,” a little bit. I guess it really all depends on the rate at which one gets rich, right? Before we get into that, let’s establish what being “Rich” really is. It would be safe to say that being a “millionaire” would be a good starting point. There are a lot of factors to consider when determining if someone is really rich, so for the sake of time, let’s say a millionaire is someone who is rich.

Let’s do some basic math. I believe the average annual income in the USA is right around $35,000. How many years, at that income, would it take a person to make a million bucks? Don’t worry, I couldn’t figure it out in my head either. Here’s the numbers:

The average person will take 28.57 years to make an accumulative million dollars, with all or most of that going to pay their costs of living. This business opportunity puts you on a much quicker path to making your first million. Instead of a 29 year track, you hold the potential to do it here within 18 months to 5 years. It’s been done over and over again. It’s definitely not a get rich quick scheme, or a scheme of any kind, but definitely a get rich quicker “theme!”

Take a look at it this way. When on a long walk you come to a mountain. You can either choose to go over it or around it. Both ways will take you to the same destination. One will obviously take longer than the other and one will be a lot more risky. Which one will you choose? The one who chooses to go around, will happily stroll along using just enough energy and risk as needed to get around the mountain. The one who chooses to go over it, will become stronger with each risk, building muscle and confidence with every obstacle.

I don’t know about you guys, but I sure didn’t want to spread my first million over a period of 29 years. I took the shorter path. Really all it is, is the ability to take a risk. The risk in this business opportunity is not whether it works or not, but instead, a risk in whether or not you will work. That is the only risk there is. If you will work and make it happen, welcome to the shorter path. I look forward to working with you and seeing your tremendous success!

What’s ‘Stuck at Work?’

April 23rd, 2009

question-mark-redI have to tell you this story. This just shows you how accustomed our children are to different lifestyles and customs. It’s amazing to see how many phrases that you and I may always hear but when it comes to our children, they are clueless. All they really know is what their parents experience from a day to day basis.

To get straight to it, last night we had invited some guests over for dinner. Well, they called canceled on us. Well, they happen to have a 5 year old girl, as do we, and being a little bummed out, my daughter asked why they couldn’t come over. Amy, of course told her that her friends Dad got stuck at work. After telling her, there was a period of silence and you could tell that she was mulling over something in her mind. She then looked at Amy, and with a puzzled look on her face asked, “Mom, What’s stuck at work?” We both looked at her in shock that she had no idea what that meant. She had never heard that phrase before. The last time I had a job was when she was a year old. I have been a home based business entrepreneur for most of her life. To her, being stuck at work might have sounded a little scary, kind of like being stuck in a tree or stuck in the mud or in prison. Who knows?!

I am proud to say that my kids will never have to become familiar with that phrase. I am never and will never be “Stuck at work!” I am a work from home Dad. I owe it all to the business opportunity I have been involved with over the past four years. It’s given me my life back, and given my children their Dad back!
