The “in the box” video, however, demonstrates a lack of understanding of the human spirit

Abraham Maslow understood that it is not possible to appeal to the spirit of man until the man is safe. Our boxes allow for safety, and therefore, should be viewed as a launching place for the spirit.
The producer of the In the box video used the box as a way to point out emptiness, and then appealed to the individual to venture into the very place that man was attempting to protect himself from (the wild) so that he would be free to contemplate the spirit. I believe therefore the message turns the reality upon its head. The producer of In the Box does not understand The Box in the least. Instead of inspiring, the film actually depresses.
