When you start adding on the years, you start to realize that life is EXTREMELY short! Sometimes I don’t feel there is enough time to accomplish all that I have planned to. I think the spark to this though process of mine was a conversation I overheard. They were talking about buying a home so that they could change it however they wanted to, instead of having to tip-toe around their landlord. Yet, they’re still hesitant.

I’ve been in those same shoes, but haven’t really been as hesitant. And that’s brought me some trouble a time or two, but I don’t ever regret doing it. Regardless of the outcome, if there’s something that I want to do or try, bottom line, I’m in and ready to go. Why waste so much time thinking about what could have happened or what might happen, just take action today and find out.

So here’s a list of ten things to do right now, not later:

Buy a home

Of course, do it when you are financially able to. Instead of wishing you had a place you could call home and make your own, some where you’re kids can come home to when they have families of their own, start now.

Go on vacation

I have heard horror stories of people who have YEARS of vacation time built up at work who have not had a vacation in over five years. What in the HECK are you thinking. Take your family on vacation! Your loved ones and the memories you have with them are what matters most. Go now!

Have a child.

You’re definitely not getting younger. You don’t want to be grandma or grandpa age when you’re kids need you the most! So what if you’re in college or at the start of your career. It all comes second to the joy you will experience with children.

Start that business

If you have a great business idea, put it to action. There will always be those who are skeptical. They’re they nay-sayers but you’re the visionary. Fear is just a figment of your imagination and a tool that destroys dreams. If you need help with a business plan, get with your local small business association. They’ll help you set one up for FREE! There’s no excuse. Get started now!

Ask him/her out or ask him/her to marry you.

You’ll never know unless you ask! Asking or not asking is the success and failure of everything. Life is too short to wonder what could have happened. Be bold, be yourself and go for it! The best relationships are based on communication….and asking is the start of that. Your marriage will be the single most important and influential decisions of your life. So get to it!

Serve others

I don’t know if you’ve figured it out yet, but serving others is one of the reasons we are here. All the gold, silver and money in the world won’t even buy a crumb in the restaurants of Heaven. Do unto others and you would have them do unto you.

Donate to your charity

If you’re financially able, donate something to the charity of your choice. If you’ve ever been in a tough spot, financially or physically, you’d appreciate a little help too.

Make a bucket list

A bucket list is a long, not short, but long list of things you would like to accomplish before the end. Whether it’s traveling to Rome or sky diving, if you want to do it, put it on the list. Start on #1 just as soon as it’s on the list and check them off one by one as you make it happen.

Get an education

If you want a better job, more knowledge or just the status a degree can bring, apply for college or start taking courses. you’re never too old. Jim Rohn once said that the best education is “Self Education.” Always keep learning and educating yourself. He also said that a formal education will get you a job, but self education will make you a fortune. I couldn’t agree more!

Go to church

For most people, it’s been a while since they’ve attended church. If that’s you, start going. This isn’t a debate on religious principles, it’s a principle of morality. That basics of what’s right and wrong seem to be missing in most of the world out there and there are very few who will stand up for what’s right in the face of opposition. Church can give you purpose and inspiration if you are lacking.

Excercise

This is #11 but needs to be in here. People tend to treat their belongings, businesses, and people around them, the same way they treat their own bodies. The mind and the body are one. If the body is weak, so is the mind. One without the other is a waste, but together, at their peak, they are powerful. Stay fit.

Conclusion

Always be moving forward without fear. You can accomplish more that you think you can and more than you already have. Life IS short. Make the most of it while you have the strength and resources to do so. No regrets!

While browsing through my Facebook feed I ran across this image, and it explains the path to success perfectly. I don’t know anyone, personally, that hasn’t struggled a bit before reaching a significant level of success in their business. Some of the most successful people I know have hit some speed bumps, dips, pot holes, detours and red lights on their road to success. But they only saw those obstacles for what they truly were, just obstacles. So many others quit at the sign of the first pot hole. I think they were just looking for an excuse to fall back into the same old mold they were in before……poor, depressed, wishing and wanting.

I have personally witnessed the squiggly line of success in my own financial life and I don’t think I am anywhere close to the end of the arrow…..at least by my standards. I have so many ideas to bring to fruition and goals to hit. Honestly, I think I’m right in the middle of the tangle, but I’m still on my way up. Tomorrow could be an upward swoop or a hard right turn, but as long as I can see the end of the arrow, I’ll get there. And so will you if you keep that same focus.

Success may seem difficult, but really is just about having more wins than losses!

Life is a battlefield. In it’s own right, it’s just as intense as any war waged between two armies in any location. Every aspect of it involves possible defeat or glorious victory, except in the combat of life, there are many foes…..yourself being one of the greatest. A sound mind is key.

In the midst of conflict, injuries will occur. Sometimes these injuries are self inflicted and other times they are caused by sources outside our control.

There are those who have been injured many times, who, because of their many scars, shy away from the battle. They avoid confrontation and action. They’re scared of being injured, or injured again. So instead of facing their enemy, they avoid them at all costs, even at great personal loss. They let the fear of pain and loss take over their life. Their actions become less valiant and their potential squandered. Instead of being dependable and independent, they become dependent and are in need of protection. They lose their self worth and find themselves living in the gutters and the filth of this war, feeding off the leftovers of the rest.

There are those who experience victory on the battlefield. They are those who have no fear, or at least know how to control it and overcome it. Despite the danger at hand, they are the ones who face obstacles and deal with them as they come, one by one. They run at their enemies, and when all hope appears to be lost, they charge. As they move forward through the smoke and haze of the unsure, they will most likely inflict a few wounds upon themselves, but in the end, if they are strategic, use good judgement, and are persistent, they will be victorious.

This great eternal battle is at hand. We cannot avoid it. It’s a fight between success and failure, good and evil, prosperity and poverty. There will be those who fall by the wayside. There will be those who quit and hide. But there will also be those who inspire, excel, and succeed. There will be those who taste of that sweet, sweet victory, and to those few….and they will be few…I salute you. You are a warrior, a pioneer and a hero. You few make this great world what it is because you know what you want. Because of this surety, you are the ones others look to for moral, financial and emotional guidance.

You are fulfilling your purpose here…and that purpose is to be all that you were created to be. You are acting like an eternal being, who is not just existing in a physical world, but creating it. You are using the talents you were blessed with, and are multiplying them and using them for good.

You are a general, and a warrior. Stay that way, because you are saving more lives in this great battle than you know.

I don’t watch much television but occasionally, there’s a show that will catch my eye and become impossible for me to not watch it. That show right now is the History Channels “The Swamp People.” I am so into it, I created a few swamp people shirts for my family and decided to offer them to the public as well. The things they say are catchy!

Half the time it’s nearly impossible to understand what they’re saying because they have such a thick accent, but it’s fun to see the unique way they make their living. At times, they seem like they’re so happy that I just want to pack up and go hang out in the Bayou for a while.

On to my point. During one of the recent episodes, Troy was being interviewed. I believe it was right after they had experienced success for that day after having a streak of bad luck catching gators. Troy said something that should be common sense to everyone and I believe is his secret recipe to his success.

He said something along the lines of, “When times get hard, you just do your job….and you work harder than before.”

How many times have you seen others jump from one opportunity to the next because things get tough? I’ve seen it time and time again and it’s a real problem in the home based business or network marketing industry. When a shiny new business comes along and the current one isn’t doing as well, jumping ship seems like the easiest solution. The grass is always greener on the other side, right?

Jumping ship, in most cases, isn’t but a temporary solution. To create the consistency of income most people look for within the home business industry, there has to be some loyalty and a little Bayou gumption. Instead of bailing, just do your job. Do what you know how to do best and do it harder than before. The results will come and so will the consistency you’re looking for.

We all know the popular phrase, “Successful people make decisions quickly and change that decision very slowly.” Translation…..do your research, choose a company, do your job and do it harder, and you’ll get the results you’re looking for.

There is a simple rule that I have learned in my journey of success is that everything is relevant and related. Some people are a success naturally. It’s in their nature, while others really have to work on it.

What I’ve noticed in my own life, is that most of my successes are directly related to how I feel about myself. Now what I mean by that, is if I feel like I am a fat slob, unhealthy and unattractive, my self esteem is going to be rock bottom. My opinion of myself may or may not be a reality, but that’s what my mind believes. Until I can change this mental picture of myself, how can I view anything that my fat, ugly self creates as attractive? Make sense?

Success in a home based business, brick and mortar business or a regular job all begins and ends with you. Success outside of you must first start within you, and it works the opposite way as well. If you are not happy with your surroundings, chances are, you aren’t happy with yourself. Whether it’s your weight, the fact that you can’t climb the stairs without passing out or that you just don’t feel well, understand that everything around you is a direct reflection of you.

If you aren’t happy with your situation, start with you first. Feel good about who you are, physically, spiritually and emotionally. Get that in tune and everything else will start to fall into place.

Here are a few things you can do right now, today, to improve your self image.

Start an exercise routine – For me, I love to feel strong. I love to run and lift weights. If I am not doing these things, I feel like I can’t protect my family, if the time comes that I need to do so. I feel like less of a man and often times compare myself to a few of my favorite movies, Gladiator and the Bourne series, where the weak die. (A little drastic I know….Just being honest!)

Eat healthier – I struggle with this part because I love my sodas and goodies. But if I feel unhealthy, I have the willpower to control it. I’m not obsessive, but I do pay attention to how I feel about myself. Don’t fall into the false belief that as long as you like the way you are, all clogged up arteries and 500 lbs of you, then that’s all that matters. It’s not true and you are lying to yourself. You just don’t know any different.

Look yourself in the eyes – Yes, I am vain….but not really. But I do want to know, that when I look myself in the eyes through the mirror everyday, that I can see a person that I have faith in. I want to see a person looking back at me that is confident, motivated and doing all that is possible to be who I know I am supposed to be. When I look in the mirror, I can see all doubt, fear or insecurity about the guy I am looking at. At that point, I know what I have to work on.

Learn something everyday – Our brains are hungry for knowledge. We’ve all heard that knowledge is power, well it’s true, literally, and in more than one way. Knowledge is energy. It’s a simple concept, but if you make it a point to learn something everyday, you will find your excitement about life will be renewed. You will have a new found energy.

Service – It’s not a new concept, but find an opportunity to serve someone. There’s no better way to feel good about yourself than by doing something good for someone else. And it’s a lot more fun if they have no idea it was you. (p.s. Don’t charge them money for this service. Hopefully that’s common sense!)

It can sound like a lot if you look at it all at once, but it really isn’t. Just develop a habit in doing these things and I promise you, you will start to have more success in all areas of your life. Our circumstances are a direct reflection of who we are being and how we feel about ourselves. In the most humble way, can you honestly say to yourself, “I’m kind of a big deal!” Say that to yourself in the mirror everyday and see what happens…and one day, if not already, you’ll start to believe it.
